Porcupine Tree – The Incident
El lunes, navegando por los sitios que generalmente leo, me encontré con la noticia de que The Incident cuya fecha de lanzamiento es el 14 de septiembre se había filtrado. Me puse a buscarlo y ya le pegué un par de escuchadas, así que pensé en comentar acerca del ultimo trabajo de Porcupine Tree.
The Incident es el décimo álbum de Porcupine Tree. Es un disco doble, en el primer disco se encuentra “The Incident” un una canción de 55 minutos dividida en 14 partes, en el segundo disco se incluyeron 4 canciones que no tienen relación con el concepto tras el primer disco.
Con respecto al concepto, prefiero citar a Steven Wilson:
“There was a sign saying ‘POLICE – INCIDENT’ and everyone was slowing down to rubber neck to see what had happened… Afterwards, it struck me that ‘incident’ is a very detached word for something so destructive and traumatic for the people involved. And then I had the sensation that the spirit of someone that had died in the accident entered into my car and was sitting next to me. “The irony of such a cold expression for such seismic events appealed to me, and I began to pick out other ‘incidents’ reported in the media and news,” continues Wilson. “I wrote about the evacuation of teenage girls from a religious cult in Texas, a family terrorizing its neighbors, a body found floating in a river by some people on a fishing trip, and more. Each song is written in the first person and tries to humanize the detached media reportage.”

Gazpacho – Firebird
Se me hizo algo complicado elegir que subir esta vez, desde hace un par de meses que he encontrado discos realmente 
buenos…
Gazpacho es una banda de origen noruego, con un estilo que a mi juicio es entre art-rock y neo progresivo.
El nombre de la banda es un intento por describir su música, pensaron que Gazpacho, que es como la bastarda de las sopas al ser vegetales molidos, servidos fríos, sería el nombre perfecto para la banda. Dicen que con Gazpacho tendrás una sorpresa, algo inesperado, fuera de lo común. Y algunos críticos los describen como “la mejor banda independiente del mundo”
Y es cierto, su música es realmente buena.
El sonido que posee esta banda es como una mezcla de varios aspectos de otros, Teclados que recuerdan al trabajo de Kevin Moore o a Richard Barbieri, guitarras como las de Steve Rothery de Marillion, Steven Wilson de Porcupine Tree y Jon Thor Birgisson de Sigur Ros y una voz que se asemeja a la de Steve Hogarth de Marillion. Todo esto acompañado por ambientes relajados que logran fundir todos estos aspectos en canciones emocionales, y no creaciones pretenciosas hechas por virtuosos (que parece ser la definición de progresivo para algunos)
Me agrada el hecho de que sean una banda independiente, ya que eso significa que no tienen que satisfacer los requerimientos de una discográfica, lo que les otorga libertad a la hora de crear su música.
Recomendado para quienes escuchan Marillion, Sigur Ros, Choma Key, Porcupine Tree y Radiohead.
